Halloween – Was It a Trick or Treat?

Product Information

HalloweenHalloween here was awesome! One of my most favorite holidays. The kids in all there Halloween costumes thinking they look so cool. There is something about a costume that transforms a person at any age. I think is that why I like Halloween. It allows anyone to be whoever they want to be if only for a few short hours.

We always celebrate Halloween at my daughters house. She lives in a neighborhood where everyone gets into the spirit of the holidays. Even the downtown sector of her small community gets into the Halloween spirit. Merchants and store fronts are all decorated in the Halloween theme. The businesses have special hours before closing for the children and families to come into their establishment and collect some free treats. The community comes all out for this. the downtown becomes transformed into a mixture of ghosts and goblins and princes and warriors of all shapes and sizes. A true site to behold.

Once the festivities are done uptown then it is time to get back to the house to partake in the house to house trick or treating. My children are grown but they still like to get all dressed up in costumes and and get into the horror of the Halloween spirit. My grand-kids are already pumped up on the candy they got from uptown and adrenaline. Its a mad rush to get everything all set for the door to door trick or treats. The evening was just cold enough to add to the spooky effect aided by the smoke machine. No rain or snow this year which really helped.

Time for the grand-kids to go out for their trick or treating. My grand-kids have never been real big on this activity, so it is a short round about. It is always fun to see what the neighbors are doing for Halloween, I think. The grand-kids would rather hurry home and get involved with the handing out of the candy and seeing what every one else is wearing. Plus they love to see the looks on the visitors face when their dad scare the Heeve Jeeves out of everyone.

The trick or treaters were down in the numbers this year. Not sure why. I think it has to do with so many schools in our area being closed down due to the swine flu epidemic going on here. Nevertheless there was still plenty of fun going on.

With Halloween happening on a Saturday this year we celebrated a little later than normal. We had lots of Halloween candy left and of course food that was barely eaten from our pizza dinner. Who has time to eat when there is so much scaring going on? Plus how can anyone not want to watch all the kids come to the door with their costumes? All the planning of the perfect Halloween costume and over in just a few short hours. Of course these costumes will never be right for next year.
